How Do Hinge Roses Work?
What Hinge Roses do, how to send them, how weekly free Roses work, and whether they can guarantee a match.
What is a Hinge Rose?
A Rose on Hinge is a way to show someone you’re particularly interested in their profile. Unlike a regular Like, sending a Rose to someone moves your profile to the top of that person’s Likes You page, making it more likely they will see you. Roses can be sent to people in both your Discover and Standouts feeds.
Every Hinge member gets one free Rose each week, and additional Roses are available for purchase through the app. Your free Rose doesn’t roll over, so if you don’t use it before your next weekly Rose arrives, you’ll still only have one.
What does sending a rose on Hinge do?
When you send someone a Rose, your profile is moved to the top of their Likes You page rather than appearing alongside their regular Likes. The Rose signals that you have a higher level of interest in that person and gives your profile more visibility.
Just like a regular Hinge Like, you can send a Rose in response to a specific photo or prompt on someone’s profile and add a comment before sending it. The person can then view your profile and decide whether they want to match with you.
How do you send a rose on Hinge?
To send a Rose from your Discover feed, select the heart on the photo or prompt you want to respond to. You can add a comment and then choose the Rose instead of sending a regular Like.
The process is slightly different in Standouts. After opening the Standouts feed using the star icon, select the Rose on the photo or prompt that caught your attention. You can add a comment before sending the Rose.
What are Hinge Standouts?
Standouts is a separate Hinge feed featuring profiles that are receiving a lot of attention on the app and are selected based on your preferences and recent activity. The profiles in your Standouts feed change daily.
Unlike the regular Discover feed, you can’t send a normal Like to someone while viewing them in Standouts. If you want to express interest in a Standout, you have to send them a Rose.
Someone you see in Standouts may eventually appear in your regular Discover feed, where you could send them a normal Like, but Hinge doesn’t guarantee that they will.
How many free Roses do you get on Hinge?
Hinge gives every member one free Rose each week. Free Roses do not accumulate, meaning you can’t save several weeks of free Roses and use them later. If you already have your free Rose when the next one becomes available, you’ll still have one.
If you want to send more than your free weekly Rose, Hinge sells additional Roses in the app. Purchased Roses are separate from the weekly free Rose and do not expire until you use them.
Can you buy more Hinge roses?
Yes, users can purchase additional Roses in the app. You can find your available Roses and purchase more from your Profile Hub in the Hinge app.
Unlike your free weekly Rose, purchased Roses don’t expire, so you can save them until you find someone you want to send one to.
Do Hinge Roses guarantee a match?
Unfortunately, Hinge Roses do not guarantee that someone will match with you. A Rose gives your profile more visibility and signals additional interest, but the recipient can still choose whether or not to match.
Looking for an alternative to Roses and swiping?
Roses can help your profile stand out, but you’re still responsible for searching through profiles and turning those matches into dates.
Known takes a different approach. Instead of giving you more profiles to sort through, Known gets to know you and searches for compatible people on your behalf. Your matchmaker searches for compatible people and introduces you when there’s someone they think you should meet. And when you both say yes, Known coordinates the booking details so all you have to do is show up for the date.
