Guidelines
Last updated · April 24, 2026
Known is swipeless dating. We handle the matchmaking, pick the spot, and book the table so all you have to do is show up and be yourself.
We believe great dates start with great people, and we're building a community worthy of that. These Community Guidelines exist to make sure every Known member feels safe, respected, and set up for a genuinely good experience, from your first call with our AI Matchmaker to the moment you sit down across from your date. We'll do our part to uphold these standards and expect the same from you.
1.Be You
We do the matchmaking, so authenticity isn't optional. Use your real name, share genuine photos that actually look like you, and be honest about who you are. No catfishing, no fake profiles, no borrowed photos. If your date wouldn't recognize you walking into the restaurant, something's off.
This means:
- Use your real name (or the name you go by in everyday life)
- Upload recent, unaltered photos that clearly show your face
- Be truthful about your age, location, and other personal details
- Maintain only one account (no duplicates, no sharing)
2.Respect, Kindness, and No Harassment
Known is built on the idea that dating should feel good. That starts with how you treat people. We have zero tolerance for bullying, intimidation, threats, or any behavior that makes someone feel unsafe or uncomfortable, whether it's in the app, on a date, or in any communication with another member.
This includes:
- Belittling, insulting, or intimidating language
- Unsolicited comments about someone's appearance or body
- Repeated unwanted contact after someone has expressed disinterest
- Blackmail, emotional manipulation, or coercive behavior
- Wishing, encouraging, or glorifying harm toward anyone
Interacting with the AI Matchmaker
Our AI Matchmaker is a core part of the Known experience, and we expect you to engage with her respectfully and in good faith. That means no abusive, sexually explicit, or harassing language directed at her, and no attempts to manipulate, exploit, or deliberately derail the conversation. Trying to extract other members' information, testing her boundaries for fun, or treating the call as a joke is a violation of these guidelines. How you interact with the Matchmaker reflects on you as a member.
3.Inclusivity and Anti-Discrimination
Known is for everyone. We prohibit content or behavior that promotes hate, dehumanization, or contempt based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic. Slurs, harmful stereotypes, and exclusionary language have no place here.
Reporting another member solely because of their identity is itself a violation of these guidelines.
4.Sexual Harassment and Consent
We do not tolerate sexual harassment in any form. This includes sending unsolicited sexually explicit images or messages, sharing or threatening to share intimate images without consent, unwanted sexual comments, fetishization, and indecent exposure. Consent is everything, and all romantic and sexual interactions between members must be consensual. If someone sets a boundary, respect it. Full stop.
5.Physical Safety and In-Person Conduct
Known arranges real dates at real restaurants and venues, which means our standards extend beyond the screen. We do not tolerate any form of physical or sexual violence, stalking, exploitation, or trafficking. If your behavior on a date, via text, or through any other communication channel would violate these guidelines in the app, it violates them off the app too.
We also ask that you:
- Show up on time for your reservation
- Treat restaurant staff with courtesy and respect
- Honor the reservation. No-showing wastes your date's time, our restaurant partners' time, and ours
- Respect your date's physical boundaries at all times
6.Privacy and Personal Information
Protect your privacy and respect everyone else's. Don't share other members' personal information, private messages, or photos without their consent. Don't request financial details from anyone. And please keep details from your AI Matchmaker calls private.
For your own safety, be thoughtful about what personal information you share and when. We recommend keeping details like your home address and financial information private until you've built real trust.
7.No Commercial or Promotional Activity
Known is for meeting people, not for selling to them. Don't use your profile or conversations to advertise products, services, social media accounts, or fundraising campaigns. If your goal is promotion rather than connection, Known isn't the right platform.
8.Scams, Fraud, and Financial Safety
Any attempt to defraud or manipulate another member out of money or resources is strictly prohibited. This includes romance scams, requesting financial support, faking romantic interest for financial gain, and any other deceptive tactics. Never send money to someone you've met on Known.
9.Age Requirement
You must be 18 years or older to use Known. Any account found to belong to someone under 18 will be removed immediately. We also do not allow photos of unaccompanied minors on your profile.
10.Content Standards
Keep your profile and conversations appropriate. We do not allow nudity, sexually explicit content, violent or graphic imagery, or any content that promotes harm. This extends to your username, photos, and any messages exchanged through the platform.
11.Illegal Activity and Controlled Substances
Don't use Known to buy, sell, promote, or facilitate the distribution of illegal drugs, controlled substances, or any illegal goods or services. Any content promoting or facilitating illegal activity is strictly prohibited.
12.Mental Health and Self-Harm
We understand that some members may be navigating mental health challenges, and we welcome personal sharing in a safe and constructive way. However, we do not allow content that promotes, glorifies, or encourages self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, or substance abuse.
13.Misinformation
We prohibit the sharing of demonstrably false or misleading content that could cause harm or negatively impact individual or public safety. This includes dangerous conspiracy theories and content that contradicts guidance from leading health organizations and public authorities.
14.Show Up (Literally)
Known puts real effort into every introduction, and we need you to meet us halfway. That means staying responsive, engaging with your introductions, and honoring the dates we set up for you. If you consistently ghost, no-show, go inactive, or continuously reject your introductions we may not be able to continue including you in the matchmaking process and may need to remove you from the platform.
15.Reporting
If you encounter behavior that violates these guidelines, whether in the app, on a date, or in any communication with another member, please report it. You can report directly in the app or by emailing support@known.com. All reports are reviewed confidentially, and we will never share your identity with the person you've reported unless required by law.
Please note that misusing the reporting feature (for example, filing false reports or reporting someone based solely on their identity) is itself a violation of these guidelines.
16.Enforcement and Consequences
Violating these guidelines may result in a warning, content removal, suspension, or permanent ban, depending on the severity of the issue. Serious or repeated offenses will lead to a permanent ban. We reserve the right to take action on behavior that occurs off the platform if it impacts the safety of our community.
When necessary, we will cooperate with law enforcement to assist in potential criminal investigations related to member conduct.
If you believe we've made a mistake, you can reach out to support@known.com to appeal.
