What Are Hinge Passing Thoughts?

See what Hinge Passing Thoughts are, how the weekly prompts work, how to post one, and how long each one stays on a profile.

What are Hinge Passing Thoughts?

Hinge Passing Thoughts are brief takes that daters add to their profiles, offering a peek at their personality and whatever is on their mind at the moment. Hinge is currently testing the addition. Hinge posts three new prompts every week, drawn from cultural moments and niche interests, and daters choose one to answer. A reply can be just a few words, with an optional photo, and it shows up as a profile card that gives other daters something to start a conversation and build rapport around.

How do Hinge Passing Thoughts work?

To post one, a dater taps the photo icon at the bottom right, taps the pencil icon, scrolls to Passing Thoughts, and taps Add a thought. The dater then chooses one of the week's prompts, types a response (with a photo if desired), and taps Post. A Passing Thought stays up for seven days and then disappears on its own.

A posted Passing Thought cannot be edited, but it can be deleted and a new one shared at any time. Before a dater can view every Passing Thought someone else has posted, that dater must post one too.

Looking for a matchmaker who knows you and plans the date?

Known is a matchmaking service for intentional daters who want a more personal, hands-off approach to dating. Instead of short takes added to a profile, Known's matchmaker gets to know you beyond what fits on a dating profile, from your values and relationship goals to the little things that make you, you. Potential matches get the same thoughtful treatment, so when there's someone worth meeting, Known makes the introduction.

Because chemistry is best discovered in person, Known is designed to get you there. When you both say yes to an introduction, Known finds a time, books the reservation, and sends you the details, so all you have to do is show up.

Known is currently available in San Francisco and San Diego, with plans to expand nationwide. Download Known to see when your city is launching.

Getting to know someone takes trust. Known puts privacy and safety alongside the introduction: our privacy policy explains how information is handled, and our community guidelines cover consent, respectful behavior, and confidential reporting.
