Rivet Dating is a dating network built on Social Matching, a model in which members called Matchers weigh in on potential pairs and recommend the introductions they think could work. Co-founded by former Tinder executive Taru Kapoor, Rivet launched nationwide across the United States on September 24, 2026, and announced $10.5 million in seed funding from Peak XV Partners, Shine Capital and Blume Ventures.
Who started Rivet Dating?
Rivet Dating was co-founded in 2025 by CEO Taru Kapoor, who spent nearly a decade building and scaling Tinder and other Match Group brands, and Rajat Sahni, former CEO of CarDekho’s used-car business. Former Tinder and OkCupid CEO Elie Seidman is an early investor in the company. Rivet is a product of MeantToBe, Inc., based in New York, and has offices in the U.S. and Delhi NCR, with its engineering and machine learning teams based in India.
How does Rivet work?
People can join Rivet either to find connections for themselves or to help others find love as a Rivet Matcher. The platform uses Social Matching, where Matchers weigh in on potential pairs and recommend introductions they think could work. Daters create verified profiles and share what they’re looking for, and Rivet introduces pairs that receive strong Social Matching scores. Once introduced, each person independently decides whether they want to match and start a conversation. Matchers earn Karma for correctly identifying promising matches or calling mismatches, which they can redeem for rewards.
What is Social Matching?
Social Matching is Rivet’s model for letting people help each other find meaningful connections and love. It draws on the collective intuition of people with different perspectives to surface introductions that daters might otherwise swipe past on conventional dating apps. Matchers’ recommendations feed a Social Matching score for each potential pair, and pairs with high scores are introduced to each other. The model debuted with Rivet’s nationwide U.S. launch in September 2026.
How do you become a Rivet matchmaker?
To become a Rivet matchmaker, join Rivet as a Matcher, Rivet’s name for its matchmakers. Anyone can be a Matcher, whether they’re single, in a relationship or not looking to be set up, and Matchers can join even if Rivet isn’t yet live for dating in their city. Daters can also switch to matching only by turning off the Dating Active setting, and Matchers earn Karma, Rivet’s in-app currency, as they vote.
How is Karma earned on Rivet?
Karma, Rivet’s in-app currency, is earned by helping others through Social Matching. Matchers earn Karma for voting on couples and again when a couple they voted on ends up matching. They can also earn a Contrarian Win when a strong majority of Matchers feel a pair should match, the Matcher disagreed, and the pair didn’t match. Karma can be spent on premium features such as Boost, Swap and Direct Message, and 1,500 Earned Karma equals $1.00 USD when redeemed, a rate that may change.
