What Is The League? Match Group's Dating App
Learn how The League dating app works, from applications to daily matching and subscription costs. Compare with Raya and Known.
What is The League?
The League is a selective dating app that gives members a limited, curated Batch of potential matches each day, delivered at Happy Hour (5pm local time), instead of an unlimited stream of profiles. Joining runs through an application, and the app aims to build a balanced community of people looking for a long-term relationship. Members review each Batch on the Scout tab.
Who started The League?
Amanda Bradford founded The League in 2014 and was its CEO when Match Group, the parent company of Tinder and Hinge, announced its acquisition of the app on July 12, 2022. Bradford led the company from its founding through the acquisition and stepped away after her non-compete expired, as reported in August 2025. A successor was not identified in that report.
How does The League work?
Each member receives a Batch of potential matches every day at Happy Hour and reviews it on the Scout tab. The number of profiles depends mainly on subscription tier, and also on community size in the area and the member's preferences. Members who like everyone but never send a message are deprioritized in matching. Matches expire after 14 days, and after matching, members can use in-app 1:1 video calling instead of swapping phone numbers.
How much does The League cost?
Free use is possible, and a subscription unlocks additional benefits and more profiles per day. Listed in-app purchases include Premium Membership (1 Month) at $99.99, Premium Membership (1 Week) at $59.99, Weekly Membership at $99.99, Unlimited Membership (1 Week) at $99.99, and League Monthly Dues at $19.99. Which purchase corresponds to which tier, and what each includes, is not specified. Renewal is automatic for subscriptions, so to stop it, switch auto-renew off at least 24 hours ahead of the period's end; account settings is where subscriptions are managed.
How do I get accepted into The League?
Applicants start on a waitlist, where The League's in-app community members vote on each application after reviewing it. Verifying the account, preferably through LinkedIn, and optimizing photos and the About Me section improve an applicant's chances. Subscribers, Golden Ticket holders and users who have endorsed a friend are prioritized, and subscribers also get expedited review within 24 hours. A Golden Ticket, available to subscribers, lets a friend bypass the waitlist. Applications are kept for up to 2 years, and applicants can reapply if they are not approved in that time.
Who is The League for?
Motivated daters with busy lives, who would rather see a limited number of high-potential matches each day, are the people The League is built around. Its waitlist balances the community and filters out users with low intent who are after something casual. As for location, the app operates in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, England, Ireland, Germany, France, most large European metro regions, and the majority of US metropolitan cities.
How is The League different from Raya?
Both call their users members and admit them by application. The League's applications are voted on by members of its in-app community. Raya, a private global community for dating, friendship and professional networking, has a global committee review applications on an ongoing basis, with review times from days to months. The League shows each member a limited daily Batch, whereas Raya offers Daily Recommendations, Maps and Directory, which let members find people close by or anywhere globally. Raya's in-app memberships are priced at $24.99 and $113.99, with Raya+ at $49.99.
Looking for a matchmaker who knows you and plans the date?
Known is a matchmaking service for intentional daters who want a more personal, hands-off approach to dating. Instead of a daily Batch of profiles to review on your own, Known's matchmaker gets to know you beyond what fits on a dating profile, from your values and relationship goals to the little things that make you, you. Potential matches get the same thoughtful treatment, so when there's someone worth meeting, Known makes the introduction.
Because chemistry is best discovered in person, Known is designed to get you there. When you both say yes to an introduction, Known finds a time, books the reservation, and sends you the details, so all you have to do is show up.
Known is currently available in San Francisco and San Diego, with plans to expand nationwide. Download Known to see when your city is launching.
Getting to know someone takes trust. Known puts privacy and safety alongside the introduction: our privacy policy explains how information is handled, and our community guidelines cover consent, respectful behavior, and confidential reporting.
