Delete your account

Last updated · August 24, 2026

You can delete your Known account, and the personal information attached to it, at any time. Do it from inside the app in about four taps, or email us if you no longer have Known installed.

Removing the app from your phone does not delete your account. Use one of the two routes below.

1.Delete from the app

  1. Open Known and go to the Profile tab.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Under Account, tap Delete account.
  4. Pick a reason, then tap Delete to confirm.

The same option is in Settings before you finish onboarding or while you're on the waitlist — there it withdraws your application instead.

2.Delete without the app

Email support@known.com from the address on your account, or include the phone number you signed up with. We verify the request belongs to you before acting on it, then start the same deletion described below.

Privacy-rights requests, including a formal right-to-delete request, can also go to admin@known.com — see our Privacy Policy.

3.What happens immediately

Your account is scheduled for deletion the moment you confirm. Introductions stop, your profile stops being shown to other members, and the app is closed to you while the deletion is pending.

4.You have 30 days to undo it

For 30 days the deletion is reversible. Sign back in and tap Restore Account on the screen that greets you, and your account picks up where it left off.

After 30 days it runs automatically and cannot be reversed.

5.What we delete

Once the 30 days are up we permanently erase the following from the systems that run Known:

  • your profile, your photos, and the recording and transcript of your onboarding call
  • your introductions, matches, messages, and date history
  • your onboarding answers, preferences, and settings
  • your login credentials, your name, your email address, and your phone number
  • the copies held by the services we use to run Known — authentication, analytics, push notifications, attribution, text messaging, customer support, and feature delivery

Your phone number is released when the deletion completes, so you can sign up again later as a new member with no history.

Two things outlive this step, and only these two: the restricted archive and the safety records described in the next section.

6.What we keep

  • A limited account record — the exception to the above. Your email address and phone number are erased everywhere Known uses them, but a copy of both is preserved in a restricted archive, together with an internal account identifier, the payment-processor reference for the account, and the dates it was created and deleted. Nothing else goes in it — no profile, photos, call recording, messages, or match history. We hold it only where we need it to meet legal, tax, and financial obligations, resolve disputes, and prevent fraud and abuse, and only as long as those purposes require.
  • Safety records. Reports involving your account — ones you made, and ones made about you — and any enforcement decision on it are kept so we can protect other members. They carry only the account identifier; the profile behind it is already gone.
  • De-identified data. Information that can no longer be linked back to you may be retained in aggregate form.

Some of the services we use finish on their own schedule: text-message and analytics deletions can take around 30 days to propagate, and content may persist in their backups for a similar window. Our full retention practices are in the Privacy Policy.
