Corner Bar

Corner Bar is a cocktail lounge in downtown Mill Valley overlooking the town square. Two bars share the cozy, polished room, with about 60 seats and an atmosphere that feels intimate without being too quiet.

Mediterranean small plates are made for sharing alongside the cocktails.

Head upstairs to Barrel House Tavern, set inside a landmarked former ferry terminal on the Sausalito waterfront. Every seat looks out over the bay, with views of the San Francisco skyline, Treasure Island, and the Bay Bridge.

Start with the barrel-aged Negroni, then share the clam chowder or tartare tacos. The tavern is open daily from 11am to 9pm.

Settle into a window banquette at Squalo Vino, a wine bar on Main Street in Tiburon, and share a charcuterie board over a glass of pinot noir. The list covers both European and California wines, giving you plenty to choose from without making the plan too formal.

It is open Wednesday through Saturday from 12pm to 8pm and Sunday from 12pm to 6pm, and closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Grab a table on the waterfront deck at Sam's Anchor Cafe in Tiburon, where views stretch toward Angel Island, Alcatraz, and the San Francisco skyline. The casual setting makes it easy to settle in without turning the date into a big production.

Seafood leads the menu, with cioppino, crab toast, and a raw bar. Heated benches and lamps keep the deck comfortable when the air cools. Saturday and Sunday hours start at 10am.

Keep things casual at The Joinery, a waterfront beer hall in Sausalito with a broad patio and communal seating. Order at the counter, grab a craft beer, and share rotisserie chicken or a few plates outside.

Big salads and other shareable dishes round out the menu. The Joinery is open daily from 11am to 8pm.

Meet over a beer at Pond Farm Brewing in San Rafael's West End, where a spacious taproom and plenty of outdoor seating keep the atmosphere easygoing.

The taps rotate, while the kitchen serves a burger of the month alongside a smashburger, salads, and bratwurst. Trivia runs Mondays and live music plays Saturdays.

Choose between a fireside table, a seat at the bar, or the heated patio at Bungalow 44 in downtown Mill Valley. The setup works well for cocktails and a slower dinner when you want a little more time to talk.

Start with the fried chicken and a seasonal cocktail. Oysters are discounted from 5pm to 6pm Monday through Thursday. The restaurant is open from 5pm to 9pm Tuesday through Saturday and until 8pm on Sundays and Mondays.

Internos

Pull up a stool at Internos on Magnolia Avenue in Larkspur, a wine and beer bar with copper tile, a handcrafted wood bar, and charcuterie boards to share.

Music and tastings appear on the schedule, and bottles are also available to take home. Internos is open every day of the week.

Bacchus & Venus

Stop in for a flight or a glass at Bacchus & Venus, a Sausalito wine bar and shop focused on small-production California wines. The cozy tasting room keeps the plan simple, while the upstairs loft looks out over the bay and hosts events.

Guests must be 21 or older. The tasting room is open daily from 11am to 7pm.

Mill Valley Depot Cafe & Bookstore

Browse the shelves at Mill Valley Depot Cafe & Bookstore, set inside a former railroad depot on the downtown plaza, then order coffee or something to eat at the counter. Local art changes on the walls each month, and the veg-forward menu includes pastries from Cibo Bakery.

It is an easy daytime option when you want a first date that feels relaxed and low-pressure.

I’ve had a really positive experience with Known so far. The app feels more intentional than many other dating apps, it encourages meaningful matches rather than just endless swiping. I appreciate the focus on getting to know people beyond surface-level information. The interface is easy to use, the community seems genuine and I’ve connected with people who are looking for real relationships. It’s refreshing to use a platform that encourages authenticity and deeper connections. Definitely worth trying if you’re looking for something more meaningful than the typical dating app experience.
