Restaurant Progress is a chef-owned modern American restaurant in the Melrose District, with a small, bright room where most tables seat two.

Choose the chef's tasting menu or order à la carte, with the open kitchen at the back of the room and a menu that changes every four to six weeks. Chef-owner TJ Culp was named a 2026 James Beard Award semifinalist for Best Chef: Southwest.

Sottise

Sottise sits in the historic Knipe House, an early 20th-century home just north of Roosevelt Row, where an antique fireplace, long mirrors and classic records make the French wine bistro feel cozy and a little fancy. It is a good fit for a date night, with limited seating inside and on the front patio.

Start with the baked brie, the steamed mussels or the beef tartare, then pick from a wine list of about 100 bottles. The chef behind it also runs Restaurant Progress.

Wander the contemporary art exhibitions at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, known as SMoCA, and stop for photos at the nearby LOVE sculpture.

Thursdays are the best evenings to go, when the museum stays open until 7pm and admission is pay what you wish. The same is true on every second Saturday. The museum is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Step into an indoor rainforest with more than 3,000 butterflies at Butterfly Wonderland in Scottsdale. There is a live chrysalis display and a reptile exhibit, plus a 3D film on Monarch migration.

Koi feeding is part of the visit too.

First Friday Art Walk

Plan this one for the first Friday of the month, when galleries, shops, street performers, food trucks and music line Roosevelt Row. It is a budget-friendly night out for two.

Saddle up for a group ride with desert views, in the daytime or at sunset.

Moonlight rides run only in the few days before a full moon and are not offered in October. The ranch calls its moonlight ride great for date night, with the next ones on November 20 to 23. Rides are booked by phone, and the ranch is closed Tuesdays.

Rusty Spur Saloon

Grab a stool at the bar and settle in at Rusty Spur Saloon in Old Town Scottsdale, Scottsdale's oldest bar, for live country music seven days a week. A small dance floor is there for two-stepping.

The saloon opens daily at 10am and stays open until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.

Valentine

Valentine is a coffee shop by day and dinner by night, all situated in front of the Modern Manor furniture showroom in the Melrose District, with retro leather chairs that make it feel more like a living room than a restaurant.

We recommend the churro waffle with dulce de leche or the avocado squash toast. The menu runs from pastries and pasta to natural wine and cocktails after dark, so you can meet for coffee or a late drink.

Less swiping. More stories.

This app prioritizes depth and personality, which made matches feel more thoughtful and aligned with what I value. Overall, it felt less like a game and more like a space designed for genuine connection. I could not recommend this app more!

this feels like a nice reset from normal dating apps. the onboarding is really well done — almost like a little magazine/storytelling video sequence instead of the usual app setup. feels more thoughtful and less swipey, which is def a good thing.
