Sauvage

Sauvage is a natural-wine bar and shop on West McDowell Road, pouring low-intervention wines alongside rotating chefs and DJs. Stop in for a glass and browse the shelves, since bottles are also sold to go. The bar is closed Mondays.
Bar 1912

Bar 1912 is a speakeasy-style cocktail bar tucked beside Valentine, reached through the restaurant or by a separate entrance on the building's north side.
Backlit archways and a narrow bar give the small room a soft glow. The cocktail menu is built around Arizona, with a Grasshopper made from chapulines and cacao pods and garnishes like pistachio cotton candy. The name nods to Arizona becoming a state in 1912, and the bar takes no reservations, so you can drop in.

Restaurant Progress

Restaurant Progress is a 37-seat modern American restaurant in the Melrose District, tucked into a vintage strip mall with large storefront windows and a quiet dining room. Most tables seat two, which makes it a natural fit for a more intimate first date.
Choose between the chef’s tasting menu and à la carte dishes, with the menu changing every four to six weeks.

Postino WineCafe

Postino WineCafe’s Arcadia location sits inside a former post office, with warm lighting, music, and a menu built around wine, bruschetta, and meat and cheese boards. The relaxed setup makes it an easy place to settle in and get to know each other.

Rusty Spur Saloon

Grab two stools at Rusty Spur Saloon in Old Town Scottsdale, where live country music plays seven days a week. Cowboy decor, swinging doors, and cold beer set the scene, with margaritas and cowboy burgers on the menu.
A small dance floor leaves room to two-step.
Cobra Arcade Bar

Face off over vintage arcade games with a cocktail close by at Cobra Arcade Bar. More than 200 games fill the room, with DJs and food trucks, and the games run on tokens from an onsite token machine.
Open daily from 4pm to 2am, and guests must be 21 or older with ID checked at the door. Free parking is available.

Japanese Friendship Garden

Wander past waterfalls and koi ponds at Japanese Friendship Garden, where you can feed the fish. A morning walk through the garden is a nice way to start the date.
The garden is open Tuesday through Sunday from 9am to 6pm. Children 6 and under are free.

Desert Botanical Garden

Desert Botanical Garden has the Sonoran Desert Nature Loop Trail, a walk with views over both the garden and Papago Park. Come fall, the evenings add cocktails and lit installations once the sun goes down, and Thursday Sunset Socials and Monday Sips & Strolls happen every week.
The garden is open daily from 7am to 10pm through December 31, closed Nov 26 and Dec 25, and parking on site is free.

Valentine

Valentine, a coffee shop and bar with a wood-fired kitchen at the front of the Modern Manor furniture showroom in the Melrose District, feels more like a living room than a restaurant, with retro leather chairs and soft lighting.
Sit by the floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the patio on Seventh Avenue, then order the churro waffle with dulce de leche or the avocado squash toast. The menu runs from pastries and pasta to natural wine and cocktails after dark, so you can meet for coffee or a late drink.
