Best Date Spots in Hollywood in Los Angeles
Ten date spots in Hollywood, from a hilltop Japanese restaurant and a Roman dinner to a Broadway night at the Pantages and outdoor movies at Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
Hollywood knows how to put on a show, and date night is no exception. Think dinner overlooking the city lights, live music under the stars or a movie night in a cemetery (yes, really). From romantic restaurants to iconic LA landmarks, these ten date spots bring a little movie magic to your night out.

Mother Wolf
Mother Wolf is chef Evan Funke's tribute to Rome and Roman cooking in Hollywood. The feel is upscale, and the Roman-style pasta is a draw, with the prawns and fried artichoke also standing out. Hard surfaces make the room loud as the night fills up, so go earlier if you want to talk. Tables are hard to book, so reserve early.

Yamashiro Hollywood

Yamashiro serves Japanese-inspired food above the Hollywood Hills, with wide views across the city. The house is modeled on a Kyoto palace and has a koi pond courtyard and a 600-year-old pagoda, with panoramas that stretch from the Griffith Observatory to the Pacific.
The menu includes Wagyu Sukiyaki and Matcha Soba Noodles. Dinner starts at 5pm, Sunday brunch runs from 11am to 2:30pm, and valet is offered.

Saffy's
Saffy's is a Mediterranean restaurant in East Hollywood that looks like a casual neighborhood spot. It comes from the couple behind Bavel and Bestia, which makes it a good match for a date with someone who loves food.
Superba Food + Bread
Superba Food + Bread is a romantic Hollywood restaurant, open all seven days. You enter through a Spanish archway on Sunset into a restored 1920s Spanish Courtyard building that was once home to Cat & Fiddle. The place is part bakery, part cafe, and part neighborhood meeting place.
Beyond the bread, the menu includes hearth roasted chicken and King Island salmon. The Casablanca cocktail mixes cherry liqueur with rum, lime and orange.
The Hollywood Bowl

The Hollywood Bowl opened in 1922 and is a premier Southern California venue for live music. It is among the homes of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
Arrive early with a pre-ordered picnic box. Picnicking on the grounds is an option too, as is a meal at the venue's restaurant. Parking is very limited and can sell out, so buy it ahead or plan on a rideshare. Rideshare drop-off and pick-up is at 6655 Odin St.
Tickets are sold per concert through the official site
Hollyhock House at Barnsdall Art Park

Frank Lloyd Wright's Hollyhock House crowns the hill in the middle of Barnsdall Art Park. In-person tours run there, and we recommend taking one together.
Advance tickets strongly advised
$12 for adults, $6 for seniors and students; parking is free but limited

Desert 5 Spot
Desert 5 Spot is a rooftop bar in Hollywood that channels 1970s Palm Springs, with a rustic Pioneertown look. Live music plays daily, and the jukeboxes are loaded with country hits. The menu includes margaritas, canned beer, and Outlaw Tacos.

Gwen
Gwen is a butcher shop and restaurant from chef Curtis Stone, his second restaurant. It pairs a European-style butcher shop with an elegant dining room. With its retro-industrial look and high-end steakhouse menu, Gwen suits a formal date night.
Fire cooking drives Gwen's à la carte menu. Reservations through OpenTable are recommended, and walk-ins are welcome.
Cinespia at Hollywood Forever Cemetery
Cinespia is an outdoor movie screening series at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, and it calls itself the first and longest-running one in Los Angeles. The grounds are beautiful and serene, which makes a movie night here the one cemetery outing that does work for a date.
We recommend arriving early for a good spot, since screenings get crowded.
Tickets are sold online through TicketWeb
Hollywood Pantages Theatre

The Hollywood Pantages Theatre is a historic theatre with an exquisite interior, and it hosts Broadway in Hollywood touring shows. A show here is a good way to impress a date, and the setting matters more than the production, though a big Broadway show is a bonus. A night at the Pantages is a hard date to get wrong.
