Saltie Girl is a Boston-born seafood bar with a West Hollywood branch on Sunset Boulevard near Sunset Plaza. Seafood is the whole focus here: think caviar, lobster rolls, tinned fish, scallops and oysters. We recommend the lobster roll with house vinegar chips, and the pistachio tiramisu for dessert. Saturday and Sunday service starts at 11am, so a daytime date works too.

Crossroads Kitchen

Crossroads Kitchen is a vegan restaurant on Melrose Avenue with a good date atmosphere. We'd put it first on the list if either of you is vegan, and non-vegans enjoy it too. The menu has plant-based takes on familiar dishes, like king oyster mushroom calamari and mushroom and chestnut tortelloni.

At Cecconi's, ciccetti (small plates), pizzas from a wood-fired oven and pastas made in-house anchor the menu, which also has an Aperitivo Hour section. The indoor room is inspired by Italian trattorias, while the garden has palm trees for an aperitivo. The room is light and open between inside and out, and it is a romantic-meal pick.

Poolside seating is optional, and it is a spot to linger over a bottle of sparkling wine. Fresh oysters and a well-known ice cream sundae are the menu highlights, and full lunch and dinner menus are served.

Casa Madera is a big, clubby restaurant on the Sunset Strip. The styling is Tulum-inspired, the menu is coastal Mexican, and the room takes its cues from the Mayan Riviera. On the patio, you'll find hanging flowers, white wood details and strong views of the city. Tacos come filled with wagyu beef, tiger shrimp, Jidori chicken al pastor or beer-battered sea bass, and couples can share them. Close the evening with a Divine Intervention, a spiced nightcap that blends horchata and espresso.
